Seix balances emphasis across four facets: duration management, yield curve positioning, sector rotation and security selection, with the goal of achieving solid and dependable investment returns over time.

Strategy Overview

Seix Intermediate Tax-Exempt Bond Strategy maintains an emphasis on quality with approximately 75% of the portfolio in AAA/AA-rated bonds and a target weighted average effective maturity of the portfolio in the range of 4-10 years.

Seix seeks to maximize total return through current income that is exempt from federal income taxes, combined with capital appreciation consistent with capital preservation, by investing in investment grade municipal securities.

Dusty is a seasoned senior portfolio manager focused on the investment grade - tax-exempt strategies. Before attaining her current position, Dusty worked as a portfolio specialist and then as a performance analyst. Prior to beginning her career in investment management with Seix's predecessor firm, she worked for Barnett Bank in the Commercial Loans division. Dusty received a B.S. in Business Management from the University of Maryland and is a member of the National Federation of Municipal Analysts and the Southern Municipal Finance Society.

Phillip Hooks, CFA

Director, Portfolio Manager, and Municipal Credit Research Analyst

Phillip is a portfolio manager and research analyst for Seix’s tax-exempt portfolios and is responsible for setting credit policy and exposure limits, performing credit analysis on current and prospective holdings, and making relative value investment recommendations for issuers in the municipal bond market. Before joining Seix’s predecessor firm in 2009, Phillip worked as a municipal analyst for Evergreen Investment Management Company where he served as the lead analyst for several mutual funds. Phillip earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Florida in 2003. He is a CFA Charterholder and a member of the CFA Society of Orlando.
